This paper calls attention to previous misidentifications of <i>Cx</i>. <i>vaxus</i> with <i>Cx</i>. <i>educator</i> and <i>Cx</i>. <i>theobaldi</i>, which could consequently misinform about the real distribution of the species.</p><p>Geographical records of the species are found in Lopes & Lozovei (1995); Hutchings <i>et al.</i> (2002, 2005, 2010, 2011, 2013); Montes (2005); Paula & Gomes (2007); Gomes <i>et al.</i> (2007; 2008); Ramos (2009); Suárez <b>-</b> Mutis <i>et al.</i> (2009); Sugimoto (2009); D´ Avila (2011); Laporta (2012); Müller <i>et al.</i> (2012); Ribeiro <i>et al.</i> (2012); Medeiros <b>-</b> Sousa <i>et al.</i> (2013b); Sá & Sallum (2013); Sant’Ana (2013); Rossi (2015).
