-
Concerts and entertainment companies suffered in 2020 after events were postponed or canceled because of the pandemic. Due to the unseen circumstances, live concerts were put on pause and entertainment companies and artists had to brainstorm a new way to host concerts safely. Because it is a current event, there is not enough research to understand the transition from in-person concerts to online concerts. This project will highlight the transition between Korean entertainment companies and Korean artists, and the way they transitioned to the online world to continue producing interactive content for their fans all over the world. The project consists of data gathered by observing two online concerts of small-scale and bigger-scale companies from Korea, a quantitative and qualitative survey shared with K-pop fans across the West coast, and data collection from Twitter. This data was collected and analyzed to show if online concerts became a success during the COVID-19 pandemic, and what the fans thought of this new form of interaction with their favorite artists. Will entertainment companies and their artists continue with online concerts post-pandemic?
