contents
Weak Gravitational Lensing is a powerful probe for cosmology, and is one of the main goals for the Vera C. Rubin Observatory’s Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST). LSST will observe ∼ 1010 galaxies and measure their redshifts with broad-band photometry (photometric redshift; photo-z). This dissertation consists of three projects dedicated to improve LSST systematic uncertainties including photo-z measurements:

1. improve photometric calibration of u-band imaging;

2. identify overlapping galaxies (blends) with machine learning;

3. quantify the impact of blends in galaxy clusters on photo-z.

Motivated by the photo-z challenges of Rubin-LSST, this work also has applications beyond photo-z or Rubin (e.g. cluster cosmology, galaxy shape measurements, Milky Way structure, or any optical observation with deep u-band imaging).
