| contents | <p>In this thesis, the learning of Walter Benjamin, Susan Sontag, and John Berger will be used to analyze the ethical implications of AI generated imagery. Walter Benjamin's ideas on the role of mechanical reproduction in art and culture will be particularly relevant in examining the ways in which AI generated imagery challenges traditional understandings of authenticity and originality. Susan Sontag's insights on the ways in which images can be used to shape public opinion and influence collective memory will also be useful in considering the potential political and social consequences of AI generated imagery. Finally, John Berger's writings on the role of the viewer in the creation of meaning in visual media will be invoked to explore the ways in which AI generated imagery invites us to reconsider our relationship to the visual world and to the technologies that mediate it. Through this interdisciplinary approach, this thesis aims to provide a nuanced examination of the ethical and reproductive implications of AI generated imagery in contemporary society.</p> |
