- <p>Sepsis is a medical condition that is characterized by an unbalanced immune response to an infection, leading to organ damage. The dysfunction of gut microbes due to sepsis has significant impact on body organs and tissues. Several therapies include fecal microbiota transplantation, dietary fiber intake and antibiotic scavengers which reduce the impact of antimicrobial agents on gut microbiota while enhancing their presence at main infection sites.</p>
