| contents |
This chapter explores the central role of citizen engagement in fostering urban resilience. Drawing from interdisciplinary frameworks—Systems Theory, Complexity Theory, and the Social-Ecological Systems approach—it argues that resilience requires collaborative governance and participatory processes to manage urban vulnerabilities. It conceptualizes the “resilient citizen” as an empowered agent capable of co-producing adaptive strategies for sustainability. Emphasizing education, technology, and inclusive planning, the text addresses challenges such as misinformation, socio-spatial inequities, and trust deficits. It concludes that urban resilience must integrate institutional, economic, environmental, social, and technical dimensions through holistic, evidence-based, and citizen-centered approaches.
|
