  • CURRICULUM FLEXIBILITY: MYTH OR REALITY IN PROFESSIONAL ADVERTISING PROGRAMS IN COLOMBIA Daniel Gustavo Medina Mendez Derecho Higher education curricular design curricular structure curriculum flexibility undergraduate advertising programs This article sets out to make a contribution to the curriculum of advertising in Colombia with the research project Comparative Study of the Curricular Design of Professional Advertising Programs in Colombia, which compared the design of the existing curricular structures in 37 professional advertising programs in Colombia, in order to identify the differences and similarities of these programs’ curricular designs, as well as to understand how the concept of curriculum flexibility is implemented in terms of selection, organization and distribution of contents. A comparative analysis was conducted using a qualitative, descriptive-analytical approach, through the method of documentary collection of information from primary, secondary and tertiary sources. The official documents of the programs, such as syllabuses, institutional and educational programs, as well as official guidelines of the state agencies in charge of the regulation and accreditation of professional training programs in Colombia. The comparative study recognizes the influence that the Colombian advertising industry exerts on the process of recontextualization of concepts, contents, knowledge and practices included in the current curricular designs, through the implementation of "elective" or "professional internship" subjects, aimed at having an outcome of a specific graduate profile, without having repercussions on the transformation of the programs’ structure or design, thus demonstrating the instrumentalization of the concept of curriculum flexibility by the institutions being studied. 2021 artículo científico 1909-7433 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=343967896059 https://www.redalyc.org/journal/3439/343967896059/ https://www.redalyc.org/journal/3439/343967896059/html/ https://www.redalyc.org/journal/3439/343967896059/343967896059.epub https://www.redalyc.org/journal/3439/343967896059/movil en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=3439 PANORAMA application/pdf Politécnico Grancolombiano PANORAMA (Colombia) Num.29 Vol.15
